A Message From PARIMA – COVID-19

Dear PARIMA Member,

First and foremost, we hope that you and your loved ones are in good health and continue to be well amidst the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak. It is certainly a difficult time for all of us as the World Health Organisation declares a global pandemic, countries are in lockdowns and both professional and personal lives have come to a standstill. Under such dynamic and uncertain situations, organisations are turning to their risk functions for support and advice.

PARIMA’s 2020 theme of “Building Resilience” is increasingly relevant and we remain committed towards our mission of strengthening the risk management profession and connecting the community during this critical period. We believe that now, more than ever, the importance for risk managers to stay connected and collaborative so we can support and build our resilience collectively.

As such, PARIMA would be introducing a series of regular digital “dynamic” huddles starting next week that focuses on emerging topics such as COVID-19 and how Risk managers across APAC are responding to it and the lessons learnt/ challenges that are faced. The first huddle will be this coming Monday at 4.00pm Singapore Time where we are inviting risk managers to share how their organisations are responding to COVID-19, and the risk management measures that have been triggered, be it business continuity, crisis management, insurance protection and beyond. These discussions are By Risk Managers for Risk Managers and we invite all members to join us in this active discussion and continue engaging with the community. We also invite you to email us at team@parima.org if you are keen to share your story or have a particular topic you would like to add. See the summary on past Dynamic Huddles and collection of our COVID-19 resources.

PARIMA also recognises the potential impact of the outbreak to our events for 2020, and thus have shifted the timing of our large-scale events. Masterclasses in Manila, Beijing and Tokyo that were originally planned for April, June and September respectively will be moved to a later date and may even be rescheduled for early 2021. We are closely monitoring the situation for our main PARIMA Conference in Singapore in October and masterclass in November in KL, exploring options on how we can still provide that forum to members but in a blended digital format. Please continue to check www.parima.org for the latest updates.

We hope that we could all contribute in making the risk & insurance community in APAC more equipped and resilient.

Stay safe and let’s do our part to flatten the curve!

Best Regards,
